Ghana

Ghana – the former Gold Coast on the Gulf of Guinea. This peaceful and economically successful country combines several African vegetation zones. It borders the Sahel in the North, spreads over vast savannahs in the centre, and is covered by tropical rainforests in the South. The Atlantic Ocean coastline boasts beautiful palm-fringed beaches. Moreover, Ghana awaits the traveller with a rich history reaching a sad high point when millions of slaves were shipped for sale off its coast from the many fortresses. In the centre of the country lies the city of Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti kingdom which presumably hosts the biggest market in Africa.
